On the afternoon of April 15, Zhu Zhaokai, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Shanghai Electric Group, held talks with Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (MASDAR), during his visit to Shanghai Electric. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on global energy transition trends, the development of the Middle East new energy market, and prospects for multi-sector cooperation.

Zhu stated that MASDAR, as a leading enterprise in the Middle East clean energy sector, possesses outstanding capabilities and extensive experience in renewable energy development, green hydrogen deployment, and international project operations. The two companies share a high degree of strategic alignment and complementary strengths for cooperation. Shanghai Electric attaches great importance to its partnership with MASDAR and hopes to build on the cooperation established through the Saudi Sadawi project. By leveraging Shanghai Electric’s end-to-end project delivery capabilities and advantages in integrating local market resources, the company aims to further expand collaboration in hydrogen energy, green fuels, energy storage, and other fields. Together, the two sides will explore new pathways for green energy development and contribute China and Arab expertise to the global energy transition.

Al Ramahi noted that MASDAR has always been committed to promoting the large-scale application and technological innovation of renewable energy, and has set strategic goals of achieving 100 GW of renewable energy installed capacity by 2030 and becoming a leading global provider of green hydrogen. He added that Shanghai Electric’s strengths in EPC contracting for photovoltaic power stations and core equipment manufacturing are highly complementary to MASDAR’s global resource integration capabilities and project development experience. Looking ahead, MASDAR expects to deepen cooperation with Shanghai Electric across more countries and regions, jointly participating in the development, construction, and operation of local renewable energy projects. Through technology sharing and expertise exchange, the two companies aim to accelerate the transition toward a greener, low-carbon energy structure and support the achievement of global sustainable development goals.
