In this year's Fortune China 500 released on July 27, Shanghai Electric was ranked 81st, up by 12 slots from 2019. In the “machinery and equipment manufacturing” sublist, Shanghai Electric secured the second place.

The list, co-released by Fortune (Chinese version) and the Wealth Management Department of China International Capital Corporation Co., Ltd. (CICC), measures the past-year revenue and achievements of top Chinese public companies, based on the information disclosed at various stock exchanges. In 2020, the total revenue of all companies in the list stood at 50.5 trillion yuan, and the annual revenue threshold to make into the list is around 17.8 billion yuan. Taking the 96th and 93rd place in the last two years, Shanghai Electric has been moving up the list thanks to a fast-growing revenue and strength.
