The 2020 "Shanghai Electric Cup", a competition jointly held by Shanghai Electric and Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Union, was recently commenced to promote the innovative application of industrial Apps. The event has also received guidance and support from the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and Shanghai Industrial Internet Association. This is the first event of this kind held by Shanghai Electric. It aims to arouse enthusiasm for digital innovation, explore good industrial Apps applicable to different industrial scenarios, and help companies pursue digital transformation.

The competition targets four areas—smart energy, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent transportation, and smart city and explores "smart and connected" industrial App scenarios that combine modern manufacturing with digital technologies. The efforts will help Shanghai Electric move faster in implementing and building an ecosystem for its industrial Internet platform "SEunicloud".

The competition includes one special prize, two first prizes, and several second/third prizes. Other individual awards available include the Best Business Idea, the Best Industrial APP, the Best Platform Contributor, the Cyber Space, and the Popularity Winner. The winners will have a chance to include their works in the app store of "SEunicloud" and work together with Shanghai Electric in this regard to make greater achievements. Outstanding teams are likely to participate in the entrepreneurship camp and training sessions that can facilitate their incubation. They can also apply to settle in Shanghai Electric Central Academe with rent reduction or exemption for up to 12 months. Shanghai Electric will further explore innovative forms and models of business emerging in the contest to foster new business.
