On the morning of April 14 local time, Wu Lei, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, led a delegation to visit the Chinese Embassy in Oman and held talks with Ambassador Lyu Jian. The two sides exchanged views on trends in the international energy market, clean energy technologies, and project cooperation.
Ambassador Lyu welcomed the delegation and praised Shanghai Electric’s role as a vital bridge in China-Oman economic cooperation. He noted that Oman was experiencing political stability and was vigorously promoting economic diversification and energy transition strategies, offering significant opportunities for enterprise collaboration. He expressed hope that Shanghai Electric would leverage its technological strengths, while consolidating existing business, to deeply participate in new energy projects in the Middle East and actively explore new models of energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. The embassy would fully support Chinese companies, including Shanghai Electric, in their global expansion, contributing China’s expertise to the global energy transformation, climate governance, and economic development.
Wu Lei emphasized Shanghai Electric’s legacy as the cradle of China’s power industry, with over 120 years of development. In recent years, the Group has leveraged its diverse business portfolio and proprietary innovative technologies to offer industry-leading system solutions for the green transition of global energy and industrial enterprises. As the global energy transition continues to accelerate, Shanghai Electric will uphold the development philosophy of "openness, coordination and win-win cooperation," proactively aligning with the Omani government’s new development plans. By responding to Oman’s energy transition needs and leveraging the respective strengths of both sides, Shanghai Electric aims to pursue more opportunities for cooperation in new energy and emerging technologies, expanding the scope of collaboration. Under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Group will support Oman in accelerating the creation of a sustainable green energy development path.
Xie Zhongmei, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Oman, and Jin Xiaolong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai Electric, attended the meeting.
