On March 27 (local time), the first overflow tank was successfully hoisted and placed in position in the trough-type power generation area No.1 of the Dubai Solar Power Project. This is the first move made by the Dubai project team in large equipment installation against the pandemic crisis.

Nine overflow tanks will be installed as key containers in the project's heat transfer oil system. Measuring 52 m long and over 200 tons, the tank has been the largest single unit for delivery in the project. A big challenge facing the Dubai project team was to transport the tanks from the port to the project site.

To prevent face-to-face contact, the project team has worked with cooperators through phone and video conferencing to carefully design a transportation route, identify obstacles along the route, and develop corresponding solutions. At the same time, the carriers and local departments in road administration and public security were also consulted to obtain a transport license and deliver the tanks to the site successfully.

All field operators were instructed for precautions in safety and epidemic prevention so that they could strictly follow the standard procedures when working in crowded areas. After in-depth research and repeated verification, the project team has designed a detailed plan to hoist the super-large and heavy overflow tank, and guided installation in strict accordance with the plan.

The 950-MW project, which includes a 100-MW CSP tower unit, three 200-MW parabolic trough CSP units, and 250-MW PV systems, overshadows its peers around the globe in terms of installed capacity, technical standards, and investment amount. It is also an iconic project of Shanghai Electric to follow through the sound principle of "consultation and cooperation for shared benefits" proposed by the Belt and Road Initiative.
