On August 21, Shanghai Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Electric Machinery”) launched a conference on the country’s largest domestic 2×9 MW dual-drive mill motor and a full-load joint commissioning test of the electric drive system, marking a major breakthrough for Shanghai Electric Machinery in the field of electric drive systems for ore processing in the mining industry. It will inject strong impetus for efficient resource saving and intensive development, and further promote the leapfrog development of China's localization of major equipment.

In recent years, as the development and utilization of low-grade mines continue to accelerate, the market for extra-large mills has boomed, and the related high-power, low-speed electric drive system is also widely used. Among them, the electric drive system for ore processing represented by bilateral drive has become the preferred technical solution for many mega ore processors with significant advantages such as proven technology, functional diversity, short completion cycle and high return on investment.

The dual-drive mill motor released at the conference has reached an internationally advanced level in terms of technical parameters and structural precision, far superior to the existing domestic motors of the same type. It has provided a new way of thinking for the innovation and development of localized motors. Utilizing collaborative design through the digital technology simulation and analysis, after multiple iterations of electromagnetic schemes, cooling schemes and structural schemes, and continuously optimizing technical parameters and structural forms, the reliability and stability of the motor has been greatly improved. Compared with the traditional model, this new model has light weight, high power density, high efficiency, low noise and low vibration. Easy to transport and install, it is very competitive in the market.

It is noteworthy that at the conference, the Binhai test base, which has Asia's largest 2×50 MW motor test platform, completed the first full-power “dual-drive mill motor + inverter device” system integration test in China. It mainly involved the full-load temperature rise test, torque balance test, material slate detection and removal test, etc., and the test parameters fully meet the technical requirements and reach the international standard of the same type.
