Recently, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council released State-owned Assets and Corporate Social Responsibility Blue Book (2023) and CSR of Local SOEs: Pioneer 100 Index. Shanghai Electric has been selected for its active exploration and outstanding achievements in CSR for two consecutive years.

For long, Shanghai Electric has integrated social responsibility with corporate development, and steadily pursued a path of high-quality development. An early adopter of ESG disclosure in China, Shanghai Electric has released ESG reports for seven consecutive years. The Group continued to integrate national strategy with corporate development, with a focus on low-carbon development and digital transformation. It deepens internal reform of the management system to optimize the corporate governance structure, improves ESG management system and works on ESG governance to promote high-quality development.

Shanghai Electric focuses on the development of wind and hydrogen storage and other emerging energy fields, to promote sustainable energy and low-carbon technology, in response to China's "dual-carbon" strategy. As a leader in the new energy industry, Shanghai Electric has been involved in more than 70 photovoltaic projects around the world, with a total installed capacity of more than 5,000 MW. The 950 MW CSP power plant of Shanghai Electric in Dubai can reduce 1.6 million ton of carbon dioxide annually. In 2022, Shanghai Electric's wind power will have an additional 3.3 GW of installed capacity, with a total of over 26 GW of installed capacity on land and sea, and a cumulative reduction of 180 million ton of carbon dioxide emissions.

In the field of traditional energy, Shanghai Electric continues to innovate, and its high-efficiency clean coal power technology continues to set new world records. To integrate coal power and new energy, to reduce carbon emission and to improve efficiency, Shanghai Electric promotes the integrated development of "generation, grid, load and storage", and realizes realize the turbine’s carbon reduction, deep peak regulation, thermoelectric decoupling and high-efficiency heat supply.

In December last year, Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu, was hit by a magnitude 6.2 earthquake. Shanghai Electric actively cooperated with the Linxia Prefecture government for disaster relief. Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group Northwest Company sent 800 quilts and 130 pieces of winter clothes to this area. Shanghai Electric (Wuhe) Biomass Cogeneration Co., Ltd. reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 150,000 ton per year by treating biomass fuels, while increasing the income of local farmers by nearly 90 million yuan and creating more than 1,500 jobs.

Shanghai Highly (Group) Co., Ltd. has been selected as one of the "ESG-Pioneer 100 Index (2023) of Listed State-owned Enterprises”. The Highly case "Guardian of Green Land" has been selected into State-owned Assets and Corporate Social Responsibility Blue Book (2023), which fully demonstrated its effective practice and management effectiveness in ESG.
