On January 11 local time, the 217 MW power unit in PV Zone 1 of the 700 MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and 250 MW photovoltaic project in Dubai has entered commercial operation on December 20, 2021, as officially confirmed by the project owner.

Before the operation, the project department of Shanghai Electric Power Generation Engineering had actively communicated and coordinated with the owner to split the 217 MW power unit in PV Zone 1 with the CSP generation system, so as to realize the independent online commercial operation of the PV part. Meanwhile, facing difficulties such as strict test and acceptance of local power grid, complicated approval process, and COVID-19 prevention and control, all members of the project withstood the pressure and responded quickly to the on-site deficiency elimination, and completed the stability test, power generation output test and grid regulation function test required for the provisional handover, and the test results all met the contract requirements.

It is reported that the Dubai project includes 700 MW of Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) power unit and 250 MW of photovoltaic unit, of which, the PV part is divided into two phases, Zone 1 and Zone 2. The design capacity of PV Zone 1 is 217 MW; the design capacity of PV Zone 2 is 33 MW.

The successful completion of the task has greatly boosted the confidence of the project staff. The project department and the participating organizations will make further efforts to push forward the deficiency elimination of the power units and strive to complete the independent and provisional handover of the PV system as soon as possible.
