Developed by Shanghai Electric, the Taonan project is China’s first large-scale commercial demonstration project integrating wind power and biomass for green methanol production. As a first-of-its-kind project, it faced major technical challenges, with no existing industry references and electrical systems required to meet demanding standards for safety, load flexibility, and energy efficiency. To support the project, Dahua worked closely with the design institute from the earliest stage, continuously refining the electrical solution to match evolving process needs. We supplied 10kV high-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, high-precision variable frequency drives, and power distribution cabinets, creating a low-carbon, high-efficiency, and safety-integrated power system tailored to the chemical environment. Within 16 months, the project successfully produced its first batch of ISCC-certified green methanol for export.
