On April 17, Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group was awarded the first large-scale thermal power project in 2020 — to supply three main engines for the two 650 MW coal-fired units at the Huaneng Shanghai Shidongkou First Power Plant.

The project will build two 650 MW ultra-supercritical double-reheat coal-fired units characterized by high parameters, high efficiency, and low emission to replace the original four 325 MW units. As the first demonstration project of equal capacity replacement, it can provide a valuable reference for future projects alike.
