On April 23, Hangzhou Metro Line 16 running between Hangzhou downtown and Lin'an District was officially open to traffic. Thales SEC Transportation System Limited Company (TST), a part of Shanghai Electric Automation Group, was entrusted as the supplier of signal systems. Based on customer demand and characteristics of the metro line, the company has optimized functions like detaining, route trigger time, and route release delay. The excellent performance has been well recognized by customers.

The line will realize integrated transport services between Lin'an and downtown Hangzhou, and create favorable conditions for Lin'an to fit itself into the Greater Hangzhou Area and the Yangtze River Delta and to embrace sustainable growth. Based on existing products (6.0), TST has developed an optimized, high-performing system for the line with new features such as ATS triple modular redundancy, automatic train protection (ATP), and anti-switch-splitting setup under the non-continuous system. TST will continue to support Hangzhou in building an inter-city rail transit system, creating a more convenient and comfortable travel experience for citizens in Hangzhou and surrounding regions.

The 35 km-long two-way Line 16 stops at 12 stations (eight underground and four elevated stations) as it runs east-west between Lvting Road in Yuhang District and Jiuzhou Street in Lin'an District. With trains operating at a maximum speed of 120 km/h, the end-to-end journey time is just 38 min, making it the fastest metro line in Hangzhou.
