On the morning of March 21 (local time), the Sylhet Power Plant in Bangladesh, which is bagged by Shanghai Electric Power Generation Engineering Co., Ltd., completed the reliability test run for the expansion project. It marks the group's first overseas combined cycle EPC project in operation.

With the spread of the coronavirus worldwide, unit commissioning and pilot run are greatly delayed as the manufacturers of many key equipment and systems are unable to send their personnel for on-site commissioning. At such a critical time, the project team has launched a telecommunications solution to engage contractors and suppliers in remote commissioning. With anti-epidemic measures in place, personnel are allowed to run a reliability test on site. Our stable and reliable unit performance have been highly acknowledged by the owners.

The 225MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant Project in Sylhet northeast of Bangladesh upgraded the original 150MW gas turbine power plant with 90MW engines and came into operation on March 15, 2018. Besides, the project is the first in the world to use our newly-developed 100MW GVPI air-cooled generator, and provides replicable experience for Shanghai Electric to grab overseas market in this regard.
