In the 1950s and 1960s, Shanghai Electric people took the initiative to adopt double-water inner cooling technology—the latest motor manufacturing technology at that time—to pioneer the manufacturing of motors in China.

In 1953, despite enormous challenges and obstacles, Shanghai Electric people successfully trialled the manufacture of large high-precision power generation equipment—China's first 6000-kW steam turbine.

In the early 1980s, Shanghai Electric people worked around the clock to satisfy customers' demands while striving to ensure the high quality.

In the 1960s and 1970s, without the precedent of special heavy equipment or the support of technical experts, Shanghai Electric succeeded in independently developing China's first 10,000-ton hydraulic press after four years of effort.

Shortly after the founding of New China, Shanghai Electric People feared no difficulties from the hard production conditions, making small efforts persistently to get the company going.
